Emily Shani, DVM

Dr. Emily Shani graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She practices small animal general medicine and focuses on providing compassionate care. Her attention to detail and availability to clients helps her stand out among her peers. She currently practices at the Banfield Pet Hospital in San Jose-Almaden where she is the Chief of Staff. Dr. Shani has a special interest in behavior and is one of the few general practitioners in the area that provides veterinary behavioral consults. Positive reinforcement paired with appropriate medication form the core of her approach to behavior. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Shani is involved with organized veterinary medicine. She was chosen as California's 2015 Emerging Leader by the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) and attended the AVMA Veterinary Leadership Conference. She has served as the youngest member of the Legislative Committee of the California Veterinary Medical Association since 2016. While in veterinary school, Dr. Shani was president of the UC Davis Student Chapter of the AVMA and was awarded numerous scholarships.
