Why are dental cleanings important?

Most dogs and cats show signs of dental disease at some point in their life. But even though it’s super common, that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to tackle it. Professional dental cleanings can help remove plaque and tartar and screen for periodontal disease.

Our yearly dental cleanings start with an oral exam and presurgery health assessment to ensure your pet is ready for anesthesia, which consists of blood testing. Then, when it’s cleaning time, we do an ultrasonic dental cleaning, tooth polishing, hand scaling above and below the gumline, radiographs (if requested), and take an in-depth look at your pet’s mouth to address any additional concerns.
