who’s the big winner dog food

beagle vs. bagel: who’s the big winner?

It’s time for another Banfield® blog post highlighting foods that have similar names to dog and cat breeds. Admittedly, there are a lot more important things going on in the world. But once in a while, people who love pets can appreciate a light-hearted diversion.

This time around, it’s a medium-sized dog against a round piece of bread. The names are so similar – could there be any connection? Um, no. But people love both beagles and bagels, and that’s what really counts.

The breed: Beagle

We like to avoid generalizations, but here goes: Beagles are a happy breed. They like hanging out with people, they don’t take up too much space, and it sure is comforting to gently pat their short fur and watch their tail wag. Oh, and don’t get us started on how cute beagle puppies are.

The food: Bagels

Beagles are popular, for good reason. But we strongly recommend against bringing a dozen beagles to brunch. That’s where bagels really shine, though. Think of all the options: plain, sesame seed, garlic, onion cinnamon raisin… the hits just keep coming. And we haven’t even mentioned the toppings.

Here’s one conundrum though: To toast or not to toast? When bagels are fresh, it feels a bit wrong to throw them in the toaster. But toasted bagels are awesome. One solution we’ve explored multiple times: Eat one of each.

So, which is the big winner?

If you’ve already read the American Eskimo dog vs. American Cheese blog post, you know that this series showcases the least competitive head-to-head battles ever conceived. Heck, maybe we should remove the “vs.” in the headline. Seriously, this isn’t a fight – it’s a lovefest.

Friendly companions (the beagles, of course) and holesome (spelling error intentional) deliciousness (bagels, natch). It’s no contest: both are big winners.

So where do we go from here? Yorkshire Terrier vs. Yorkshire pudding? You never know. But rest assured that in the next edition of this silly series, we’ll celebrate a great breed, highlight a tasty food, and do whatever we can to lighten your mood.
